Rev. Jack Climer
1973, South Central, Los Angeles, CA, USA
My memories of Jim could fill a book now that the statute of limitations has passed. Jim was my field training officer at Sheriff's Firestone Station. I was a bright-eyed bushy-tailed young Deputy Sheriff who's only choice for a patrol assignment was to be found in Firestone Park Station #1 (hence "FPK1"). Jim took me in hand and over the next many weeks taught me to survive and thrive in L.A.'s meanest streets. Fortunately for us both my sense of humor matched his and it wasn't long that our relationship evolved from FTO/Trainee to Partners. Law Enforcement folks understand that a "partner" is often a closer relationship than spouses. Jim was, and will always remain, my partner, my great friend and my brother in Christ who honored me by allowing me to lead him back to his faith. My life was enhanced by having him in it and it is depleted by his loss. Jim was dedicated to his family, his community, his nation and his god. I know that he is happy being reunited with loved ones and colleagues who passed before him. I'll be there too one of these days. I'm sure the old "15 David PM" will run amok again. God Bless.
I met Jim through my husband Jack. We have been with him since his first night in the Emergency Room. He was a kind man, and a funny guy.  Jack would tell me about things he would do as a police officer, and I realized he was a good man, and if I listened to him I would be able to learn a great deal.  I did.  I learned he was funny and kind. I learned he admired my husband, and missed the "old days."  Jim, I miss you, friend. We will see you again my friend. God Bless you.
