James's obituary
James Stephen “Jim” Koob, 65, of Apex, NC, passed way August 20, 2022.
Our beloved husband and daddy “Jim” was the best husband and daddy! He is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Barbara Koob, and their beautiful daughter Anika Koob.
Jim attended Marist College and graduated with a BA in Chemistry and Biology in 1979. In addition, he had a minor concentration in Mathematics as well as a study of the philosophy of science. In 2010, Jim attended the University of Notre Dame, the Mendoza College of Business for Executive Training and Business Administration and Management.
Because Jim was a natural leader with great wisdom from heaven, he was often asked to serve on various church councils, leadership teams and executive boards. For over a decade, Jim and Barb faithfully served the small group ministry at their local church. They equipped and raised up many to host and lead life-changing small groups. Jim even led a team to minister to children at the church.
Jim loved to read! He was constantly learning new things whether it was about science and technology, the business world, government and politics, history, religion and philosophy, music and the arts, and anything else he could get his hands on. He also loved traveling, and was smart, clever, and just fun to hang out with. Just a few of his hobbies included playing the piano (almost like a concert pianist), photography, and woodworking. When he was younger, he loved track and rowing, as well as hiking and camping.
A Celebration of Life Event will be held at Hope Community Church, 821 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh, NC 27606 on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10am. Also, in lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a gift to our local church, The Branch NC, a recent church plant that is committed to the discipleship and community that both Jim and Barb loved.

And finally, if you knew Jim, you knew he loved God, loved his family, and loved everyone he met and worked with very well. He deeply lived this belief throughout his life. For certain, we will dearly miss our Jim, but we know we will see him again in heaven. PLEASE DO SHARE YOUR MEMORIES OF JIM on the memory page of this "Ever Loved" website! It will really comfort Barb and Anika as they walk out this new season. Thanks so much. Blessings to all.
