James's obituary
James Jay Isom, 63, of Smithville, Texas, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Cuero, Texas. He was born on September 26, 1961, in Iwakuni, Japan, to James Isom, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and Wanda Ruth (Denton) Isom.
Jay is survived by his four beloved children—John, Krystal, Christian, and Marissa—along with seven grandchildren, and his brothers, John Pike and Loyd Chapman. He was welcomed into eternal peace by his parents and his brothers, Ronnie Pike and Anthony “Tony” Pike, who preceded him in death.
Known to most simply as Jay, he was a talented diesel mechanic, always dependable and willing to help anyone in need. Beyond his work, Jay was a man of deep faith and spirituality, who cherished his family and carried his love for them throughout his life.
