I am so very sorry Mark. May God, family & friends bring you much comfort & peace.

Dear Linda, Pamela, Mark, David, and families,

Jim had such a unique and joyful spirit—his humor, kindness, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He truly made people feel seen and valued, and I feel fortunate to have experienced his warmth and generosity.

I hope you find comfort in the many lives he touched and the memories you hold dear. His legacy lives on through each of you and the love you share as a family.

Please know I’m holding you all in my heart during this time of loss.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Becky Gerdes

Linda, Pamela, Mark, David and families,

I have such fond memories of Jim and all of you from my high school years. From Bible studies to countless hours spent just hanging out at your place. I really loved Jim‘s sense of humor!

Condolences to all of you. He was a great man!

Phil 1:23: "For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:"

  • My Deep condolences

Jim was a wonderful friend! He was so encouraging when Gary and I were married! I will never forget when he walked me down the aisle at First Baptist Church in Windom! And all the encouragement he gave us!

Becky and Gary Goodwin

Praying for you all. Jim was such a fun guy and I have so many good memories with him in it!  Sending lots of love your way during this time.  Blessings on your guys and your family.
Mr. Brandt was my favorite math teacher as he taught it so I could understand it. It was my toughest subjects, but he made it look easy. He was also a great mentor outside of school. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. He will truly be missed.
Jim was the best. He hosted a high school small group that I attended and I still can hear him 35 years later reminding us to not sweat the small stuff, to see the big picture of God's love. Truly formative in my faith,  especially as I watched him live that out. What a joy to know him. Peace to you, Brandt family.
We so enjoyed the times together when Jim lived in Mountain Lake.  As an educator, Jim was kind, supportive and effective in his interactions with his students.  As a fellow staff member, Jim was always insightful and had that twinkle in his eye as he talked with you.  Jim was a great friend.  May his legacy greatly impact his family and those associates who he leaves in his wake.
I’m so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I have many memories of him during my HS years when he Pastored our church.. his laugh and smiles were many, his encouragement in all things was never ending as was his advice as a parent, a Pastor and a friend. Sending love and prayers for you all as you celebrate his life. He will be missed. ❤️

Thinking of you all as you celebrate Jim’s life and at the same time shed loving tears. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Mark and Sharron Hanson

Congratulations to Jim and the entire family.  He has finished his race and is hearing his Lord and Savior say, “Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into My rest.”

Remembering Jim brings a big smile and many precious memories from the years we served together in Puerto Rico at WIVV.   Linda, thank you so much for bringing him into this mission field, where he served the Lord Jesus diligently. We stand with you and your family at this time of so many mixed feelings and emotions.  May the Lord continue comforting and strengthening you all.

My heart can sing when I pause to remember

A heartache here is but a stepping stone

Along a trail that's winding always upwards

This troubled world is not my final home

The things of earth will dim and lose its value

If we recall they're borrowed for a while

And all the things of earth that cause a heart trouble

Remember there will only be a smile

But until then, my heart shall go on singing

But until then, with joy, I'll carry on

Until my eyes behold the city

Until that day God calls me home

Oh, the memories! I could put a boatload here. Suffice it to say, we shared tears… tears of sadness, tears of frustration, tears of joy and silly stuff too. Jim’s dedication to everything he did was so appreciated! Best sound tech, Bible teacher, counselor, jokester, and friend. I will miss him. Linda, my heart is with you in Iowa. I love you and cherish times we spent driving to school in Mankato and back. As well as other times of fun we shared. Singing with “Circle of Grace” will always be the best harmony I ever got to participate in. Not just in sound, but in the love we shared serving together.

Jim is well!
