From Kubo: Yesterday I was on the beach in Malibu changing my return flight to an earlier one because of the late letter I've received (on Tuesday) about my naturalization ceremony (today). Today I've traded up my green card in exchange for a paper with my name and picture on it. It has some fancy words like citizen and stuff on it.. It's been 19 years since I've started calling this big country my home. Last year I've made it officially official-er and submitted a naturalization application. Today marks a new day in my life. It's been a long but great journey.
Losing Jakub a son, a brother, a father is a heartache that words cannot heal. I offer my sincere condolences, and know you will find comfort in the love and support of those around you. Jakub's spirit will always shine through you, and his memory will be a source of strength. My heart aches for you as you navigate this unimaginable loss. I'm here for you.
