Sadly, I didn’t get to know my cousin.  I visited Hawai’i a couple of times and spent some time with the family, but not much with Isaiah specifically.  My loss.  I did get to enjoy his cooking.  He was a good chef.  And it was obvious he adored his children.  Rest easy Cuz.  💖

Isaiah, you will be deeply missed. Your time here reminds us that love is the greatest legacy we leave behind. He loved his children deeply and carried that love with him. May his children always know how deeply their father loved them, and how his spirit lives on through them every day.

Sending love and peace to the family.

Although I did not know him personally, I often heard the love and admiration his family expressed when speaking of him. My heart goes out to his dear children and loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing how deeply he was cherished and in the quiet assurance that his love endures. I believe his watchful care will continue to surround them.  May his children continue to know their father loves them and will watch over them from Heaven.

To the ohana, of Isaiah Kaleo Jiaan Fourshey:

I can't imagine the grief and am so sorry for your loss. You have definitely been in my thoughts and prayers for healing and provision of all that is needed. By the Goodness and Grace of our Heavenly Father and the atoning sacrifice of His Son Jesus, we have much hope for us all to be together again in His Kingdom and Glory where He will wipe away all of our tears...

Revelation 21:4

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

The Hawaiian saying, Aloha Ke Akua, means God is Love. We were created in the Image of God, and, therefore, we were created in the image of Love. If it wasn't for His Image of Love in us, we wouldn't be able to shed a tear, so when I see tears, I see Love... I see God. While going through a low point in my life, I read in the Bible...

Genesis 5:5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

I realized that when we grieve, not only is He the only One Who truly understands, but our grief helps us to better understand and relate to Him in Whose Image we were made... All of life's best attributes and experiences - love, joy, peace, goodness, etc., are so much more magnified in God. His Love, Joy and Goodness is so very much greater than ours... But so is his grief.

The reflection written by your family about Isaiah is so beautiful and cited a Bible passage from the book of Isaiah - 41:10 - "Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Later, a prophecy about Jesus in Isaiah 53:3, says, "He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief." So, during this time, may His Presence, Peace, Love, and all of the best attributes of Him be with you, comfort you, and be realized in a very special way.

Na kalokalo leo ana me ke aloha no kou ohana...

Isaiah was a beautiful kind soul with the warmest smile. He used to frequent my malasada stand and was always so sweet and respectful to me and my boys. We will always remember him this way. My heart aches for his entire ohana, who clearly has so much love for him  and my deepest most sincere condolences to all those impacted by this tragic event.  May God be with you and may you all find peace in your hearts amidst the pain. We never know what battles people are fighting,  let Isaiah remind us to love and cherish one another every day and to be kind. ❤️

Brennon Byrd
2009, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Isaiah came to Los Angeles for the summer. I was only 8 at the time so I don't remember much beyond this person who was my "cousin" was going to come to the city for a few months. And then he got there and I remember that we just immediately starting doing things. Things that kids do. Like exploring the neighborhood, playing football or basketball but really just being outside in general. I had a video game console and since it was summer, I could spend all day in front of the tv. That was until Isaiah got there. I don't think we spent more than a couple hours inside from sun up till sun down while he was there. That's just the kind of kid he was when I knew him, always outside and always leading the kids on an adventure. One of my most memorable moments was when we built a "ramp" for my mountain bike out of spare wood. Shoddy would be describing it nicely. It looked just about ready to collapse and was way too steep. So steep that on our first test run, I got so high in the air that I inevitably crashed. Isaiah, who had made sure I was wearing my helmet in accordance with my mom's orders, checked on me to make sure I wasn't hurt. He was indeed very protective as much as he was cunning. Once ensuring my well-being, he immediately set out to fix our design. The only problem was that he built the damn thing too well and we couldn't even get it apart by trying to. He was quick on his feet and realized jumping from the street to the curb could compensate for the height. Plus the grass offered better protection incase things went sideways, which I was scared they would. He reassured me with a pep talk and sure enough, it smooth all the way through. That ramp was so fun I remember that I shot back around for another go and another and another. He gathered the adults in the house to come watch the spectacle and It meant so much to me in that moment to share this with him and them. The only thing is, in hindsight, I don't think he ever rode it himself. I think he did it solely for me and let me have that moment with everyone's attention and I think that embodies him as a person. Using his knack for adventure, care and love to create moments for others. He left not long after that but years later when we reconnected at his home on the Island, I saw the same love and care for his own family. I think about that one day that summer quite often and it still brings me joy.

Thanks for that summer Zay.
