Angie's obituary

Irma "Angie" Tobin, better known as Angie, passed away on March 4, 2023. Born on November 29, 1942, she was 80 years old at the time of her passing. Angie was born in Puerto Rico and spent her early years with her siblings in their home on Prospect Avenue in Bronx, NY. Later she moved to upstate NY where she remained for most of her life.

She worked diligently as a Registered Nurse throughout her life, touching the lives of countless patients and their families. As a supervisor in several Nursing Homes, she cared deeply for her elderly patients and was loved and respected by her staff, clients and their families.

The family is grateful that two of her surviving children, her daughter, Antoinette Acosta and her son Anthony Acosta were with Angie during her last days. Her eldest daughter,  Loretta Acosta Russell, and sister, Sylvia Coccagna Kugler, could not be there, but are grateful to have spent time with her a week earlier.  Angie is also survived by several grandchildren, two great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Angie was a generous, kind, witty, genuine, humble, and protective mother, grandmother and sister; who would let nothing get in her way to help the ones she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family.

Angie was predeceased by one daughter, Frances Acosta Grad and her husband, Bartholomew Tobin, aka Bart. Angie and Bart enjoyed their life together and we hope are now enjoying their afterlife too. In addition, Angie’s parents, Irma and Victor Rosa passed before her as well as five siblings including, Sally Hinden, Victor Rosa, Elba Rosa, Charles Rosa and Eddie Rosa.

Recently, in her free time, Angie enjoyed reading, taking care of her family and her all time favorite thing to do was clean, especially the kitchen floor! (Thanks mom!) She was an avid crossword puzzler and enjoyed various true crime television shows, but her true happiness came from the love she shared with her family.

Angie's family will remember her as a kind-hearted, giving person with a good sense of humor that could make you laugh with her quick comebacks. Despite being in frail health, she was able to laugh up until the end.

Her kind spirit and unwavering support will continue to be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Angie's life was a testament to the love and care she had for those around her, and her memory will be cherished forever.

This memorial was written by Loretta. I invite all of you to share your own stories as I plan to write a longer story about my moms life in the future. This short obituary can’t possibly give a true picture of who my mom was so please share because she was many things to many people.

Thanks mom, for toasting “to life”  in our medicine cup shot glasses in the hospital with me! It is a memory I will always remember. Your smile and laugh at our antics is a testament to your spirit and I’m glad I was able to give you a brief moment of joy.
