I’m so very sad and shocked to see this . I have the fondest memories of working with Irene at MDA back in the 1980s. I remember when her son was born and how happy she was!! Deepest condolences to John and family . Irene was truly one of a kind - hold the wonderful memories close to your hearts ♥️

Tammy & I just heard of Rene's passing. We are devastated. She was such a wonderful person! We have such great memories of working with her at the Arthritis Foundation and all the great events she presented. Including our favorite, the car show were just awesome. Her dedication to God, country & her non-profits was beyond words. She will be missed by so many. Our thoughts & prayers for God's Peace & Comfort as only He can provide to John, John Joseph, Holly & all of her family & friends. RIP my friend!
Irene taught me so much, but one of the best lessons was when we worked together at the Macomb County runaway shelter.

I was a freshly minted director undergoing my first licensing inspection by the state. My boss, some board members & a lot of big wigs were there. I was a nervous wreck.

We ate lunch in the dining room which had an outside porch spanning its length. The kids, ages 13-17, ate in their normal 5 minutes & sauntered out to the porch, while the rest of us leisurely ate.

Well, the kids starting spitting off the porch. Putting on a show for us, I’m sure. Really gross. I was ready to storm out there & raise Cain. I looked over at Irene & she knew I was ready to blow. She jumped up, opened the door and said, “you’re having a spitting contest & you didn’t invite me?” Well, everyone laughed & the kids settled down.

She taught me to treat all people with respect, to look past the behavior & to use humor abundantly. I loved & respected her so much.
The world has lost someone very special. My guess is Irene is already busy organizing an event up there in Heaven. I was lucky to work with Irene for many years. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Sending our love to you John and John Joseph. I adored Irene. I worked for her at the Arthritis Foundation many years ago. It was my first experience at a non-profit, and I was blessed to have her as a role model. She was such an amazing and loving woman, passionate about her work and even more importantly, her family. She was so proud of you John Joseph. I am grateful to have known and loved Irene. Your family is in our prayers. Love, Michelle and Terry Morse and family
Our hearts are deeply saddened to hear about Irene's passing. Please accept our deepest condolences to John, John Joseph and Holly for your loss, as well as her extended family.

I first met Irene when she moved to Texas and we worked together for several years at Prevent Blindness Texas, and eventually became lunch buddies. It was fun watching her adapt to the diverse food scene in Houston, and she soon became a quick lover of Mexican and Thai food! She was always a delight to be around, and was a strong pillar of faith for my family as we went through some difficult times with the health condition of our daughter Marina. No words can describe how grateful Mario and I will always be for all the support, prayers and kindness that John and Irene showed us as we battled some tough times. Most importantly, we will always appreciate their role as strong prayer warriors for our family and for helping to recruit so many more prayer warriors for Marina along the way.

Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the Baird Family and we pray you will continue to find peace and comfort during this difficult time. I will dearly miss all of my religious conversations with Irene and someone so special as Irene can never be forgotten.

Irene, you will always have a special place in my heart.

My deepest sympathy to all the family members. We have heard many wonderful stories about many of you. Irene was passionate and committed to whatever she did. It was amazing to watch her work! We shared many laughs as colleagues at the Arthritis Foundation. I will remember her massive generosity and her big beautiful smile. Rest In Peace my friend.
We were so very sorry to hear of Irene's passing. We have so many happy memories on Easy Street , she was always so loving and caring and had such a winning smile. She will be missed by so many. Hugs and Love to John and John Joseph. May the happy memories help to ease your way through this very difficult time. Love from Michigan, Glenn and Michelle Charles
Working with Irene as a fellow Arthritis Foundation President was a joy! Wonderful memories working together to further an important mission, sincere empathy, and so many, many, many laughs ! She was an amazing person who cared so much for others and was devoted to making a difference in so many lives. Her love for her son and husband was constantly shared. No words can say how much I pray she will remain in the hearts of all who were as fortunate as I have been to have her in my life.

The week before the Bairds moved to Texas
We are so so sad to hear this news.

Irene and John made our new home on Dale Ford truly feel like home, as they welcomed us with open arms. With young children and a traveling husband, Irene and John always took such good care of me and the kids! Emmy used to love running over to visit and color with Irene and Matt enjoyed talking to John out in the yard. We had fun watching John Jr. play baseball - whether in the yard or on the field. One of our favorite memories was when John and Irene grew pumpkins in their backyard so Emmy and Jack could have their pick to carve in the fall. What a fun fall that was!

Irene and John were always at our family birthday celebrations and Irene would choose the most thoughtful and perfect gifts for our kids. They prayed with us when Matt had cancer and Irene checked in us constantly. We were so blessed to be her neighbor and friend.

John, John Jr., and entire family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Heaven gained one of the best this week!
I'm so sorry to hear this news about Irene. I had the pleasure of working with her when she was with MDA in Columbus. We worked for a somewhat eccentric guy and we were able to provide sanity (and laughs) for each other as we dealt with the quirkiness of our boss. I believe the last time I saw her we met at Xavier's baseball field (where I work) to watch her son pitch. We would text or e-mail occasionally but when she moved to Texas we didn't chat as much. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones - Irene certainly made a difference in many lives.
My favorite memory of Irene is after our weekly meeting she loved going to Snappy’s Cafe.
She was such a kind wonderful person. She would help anyone anytime.
I will miss her friendship and big smile.
I'll never forget the first time I met Irene. She put her arm around me and looked at John and said, "She's a keeper." She was a lovely person. My heart aches for your loss.

As an original board member of Family Promise, I thought Irene was the ideal person to serve as the first executive director of the fledgling organization. She was energetic, fun, and so bighearted! I will always remember her in a special way. John, you and your son are in my thoughts and prayers.

The Savoldi’s were blessed the day that the Baird’s moved into their new home on Dale Ford Road. To this day, Irene was one of the best neighbors turned friend that I have ever had. So many incredibly fun moments and memories. I loved her laugh and loving heart.

She believed in me as I started a business and was one of my first client's and for that I was always so grateful. After she moved to Texas we kept in touch a bit and I was able to grab dinner with her during a trip to Texas. It was like time never passed.

Definitely one of the good ones. Heaven is a bit luckier. Love, hugs and prayers to John and John Jr.

Irene, Monica, and I enjoying lunch! She was a wonderful soul- an excellent friend and mentor. She will be deeply missed.
I loved meeting Irene and John in Warren, Michigan at a restaurant which specialized in pancakes. She always said "They're so yummy."

I got to know Irene through the starting of Family Promise. I work with computers and helped her with a couple of issues. She called and said she needed 2 computer for the Family Promise organization. She said that the only issue was that they needed to be free. I was able to find an organization that did just that. She then ask me to join the board. She had such a passion for helping others and more energy than most people I know. I am so glad that I was able to spend time with Irene, and her John's. She will be missed. Love and Prayers.
