What were Hersh's favorite books?

Hersch, you may recall, went to MIT. He was a numbers and science guy. However, he was incredibly imaginative. He was a wordsmith. He never discussed  fiction or actually any books with me personally.  He used words and phrases in ways that were as affectionate in their own as Sue was affectionate. He would look, eg , at a baby girl in backpack and just start calling her "Favorite" in the dearest way. It was adorable. Hersch was not like any of many many terrific people I have ever known .He has and Sue shared a appreciation for turns of phrases, nicknames, and insights. Hersch is as alive to me today as he ever was. If Hersch could have been a character in a book himself or in a movie, he would have won everyone's heart. He was heart-warmingly funny. He could not help being funny. And scenarios played out deliciously against Sue's beautiful laughter. Did you know that when Hersch 's car broke down once on one of the fast roads in Westchester County, he drove home backwards.For real .
And another time , Hersch laughed so hard that he had to go to the hospital to ward off fear of a psychotic break? It was heaven to laugh with Hersch. I was the weakest personality in the group and when we were at Sue and Hersch 's for dinner, he would steal food from my plate when I wasn't looking! One night Suemar  ( nickname to be explained below) made a lovely roast beef. Hersch carved into four stout c u b e s.  Yes, cubes!
Delightful. Suemar did not protest at all. You see where I am going with this. Hersch was like character in a good book or movie.

What were Hersh's favorite artists or styles of art?

Interesting question. I am an artist and I have no knowledge of Hersch ever mentioning a work of art. I wish I could ask what artists he liked.

* * * I must now digress to a story which my ex-husband Den may have also told.

It is a work of art, this story. I am not being irreverent or flippant. Hersch was one of the most caring and warm and kind and magical and funniest guys I have ever known.

When he went MIT - first day 
of classes , no teachers  called his name from the rosters on their classes. Late in the day, Hersch saw a sheet of stamps like postage stamps . It had 50 or so identical  pictures of him on the stamps and his name. Every kid got their sheet. You were supposed to use them to put on documents encountered in the beginning of the year . It was one way of identifying you, MIT style.
This sheet of Hersch 's explained the mystery of why all the teachers didn't call his name. Hersch's sheet was printed wrong. It said, wonderfully and incorrectly:
Hershmar, Kusfeld. 
Thus the names Heschmar and Suemar became immortal.
