Personal note from Helen's Family

Thank you for visiting this page to honor the memory of our beloved mother and grandmother, Helen Ruth House, who passed on October 29, 2024. We are deeply grateful for the prayers, messages, and support you have already shared with our family. Please keep them coming, as they bring us much comfort during this time.

Our family is spending time at Mama Helen's home, 923 South 8th Ave, where we are receiving friends and family. On this page, you’ll find information about her funeral services, where to send flowers, and share updates as necessary. We also invite you to share your favorite photos, memories, and words of condolence here, to honor Mama Helen and create an everlasting tribute to her life.

Family and Friends,

We have updated the page with information on the funeral services for my Grandma Mama Helen. The timings for the Burial and Repast are approximate. These events will follow the funeral but may shift as you know.

Update from Nov. 1, 2024

We are receiving visitors and deliveries at Mama Helen's House, located at 923 South 8th Ave. If you would like to send food before the service, please have it delivered to the same address. You may call or text Jermaine House to make sure someone is home (601) 342-1481. Brown Mortuary is overseeing the funeral arrangements. For those wishing to send flowers prior to the funeral service, please have them delivered to Brown Mortuary @ 902 Susie B Ruffin Ave, Laurel, MS 39440.

Obituary

Affectionally known as Boobba & Mama Helen, Helen Ruth House, a beloved mother, grandmother and tall figure in her family and community, was born on August 8, 1936, in Laurel, Mississippi. She quickly became the heart of her parents Savannah and George Hudgies, who affectionately called her "Boobba," a nickname that would stay with Helen for the rest of her life.
