I have wonderful memories of being invited to the family affairs when Andy was alive. Joan was my dear friend for decades. I met Joan in 1994 when we both lived in Haycock Township. I had started Garden Exchange Club and she was my faithful secretary. We had at least 25 members and were written up in Fine Gardening magazine. I’ll try to find her picture from the magazine. Every year on her birthday, Pat Schuck (who bought the farmhouse) and I would drive to New Jersey to take Joan to lunch. Before Joan moved there, Loretta, Joan, Pat and I would have lunch at a restaurant every month. Both those ladies, Joan and Loretta, looked forward to our outings and continued their friendship even after each of them moved away — Joan to NJ and VA and Loretta to upstate New York to be near her son who had moved. It was wonderful that Joan lived as long as she did -- knowing her was a gift. Her curious mind kept her young at heart and we all hoped that we could be as active and interested in certain subjects as she was. What a role model! What an imprint she made! How lucky we all are for having her in our lives. With much happiness that Joan was in my life, Natalie Searl
