My memories of Harvey were when I first met him was when I was hired as a part-time professor for the GRC. I wasn't too sure of what to expect since my teaching experience was mostly at the high school level with some community college courses taught. I was excited and of course anxious about expectations and how I would fit in with faculty. Well, so meeting Harvey for the first time, I was taken by the striking persona of a typical university professor. It wasn't long that I found that he was "typical" but a true educator who was not only concerned about the curriculum, but also about the success of students. On a personal note, he was responsible for me to present at our yearly International Conference for Communication Educators, and from it published my abstract for an article for the Graphic Communications Education Association - Visual Communication Journal. I was later fortunate enough, to be selected to go to Melbourne Australia as a guest scholar/professor for two weeks. I know HE had something to do with that. What an experience for me! Harvey certainly accepted me as one of the CRG family which I so much appreciated. I will remember his warm smile and matter, always with a positive outlook on life and his beloved graphic communication department and industry.

So sad for to lose our dear family friend, Harvey Levenson. He will be so missed as a friend and mentor to me in conjunction with my late father, Joe Schwartz’s photography. He had such a kind, generous, and humorous spirit! Lovingly, the Motlos

Harvey was my friend for more than 45 years. I first met him in Pittsburgh when he was teaching at LaRoche College. Later we stayed in touch as pen pals, exchanging jokes and pithy observations on life, politics, and the human condition. He bore his wisdom with humor and humanity and will be long remembered. I send my condolences to his family and everyone who knew him.

My condolences to Barbara and the entire Levenson family. Harvey was one of those very special people you get to meet in life. Vibrant, dedicated, friendly and persuasive, he was a force of nature at Cal Poly. I was fortunate enough to meet Harvey when I was recruiting on campus. I got to know him well and was honored when he asked me to join the GrC Advisory Board. Little did I know it would lead to a 20 year relationship with both him and Cal Poly. What I love about Harvey is he would tell it like it was; he wasn't afraid to share his thoughts. His passion for GrC and the education of its students was complete and unapologetic. I just loved his enthusiasm. We lost a great man, a great leader, and a great friend. The world is a much better place for having Harvey in it. God speed.
