Jonni's obituary
Harriette Elaine “Jonni” Williams, 85, of St. Albans, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was the daughter and second child of George Wyatt and Sara Virginia Daniels Williams, devoted mother of Darrell Scott Livingston and Robert J. Livingston, Jr., and loving grandmother of Todd Christopher Livingston.
In college Jonni was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and was voted the honor of being Miss Kappa Alpha Psi. She was a member of the last graduating class of WV Teachers Training High School, WVSC, Institute, 1957. Jonni earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia State College.
Jonni was an artist like her father and a singer, as was her mother, and a poet. She became a proponent of healthy living based on her lifestyle of walking and eating lots of fruits and vegetables and avoiding processed foods. Jonni didn’t drive so she walked around her hometown and took the bus to appointments and other distant destinations.
A caretaker by nature, Jonni left her home in West Virginia and became a psychiatric nurse in Norristown, PA. In later years, she returned home to West Virginia and worked at a senior home facility called Mamma’s House.
In Pennsylvania, Harriette Elaine Williams married Robert Livingston. They raised two sons, Darrell and Robert, Jr. Jonni was a proud, caring mother, who found great joy in her loving, caring, athletic sons. Both known as hard workers, Jonni often relied on her sons as adults. At one point, Darrell moved to Institute to be a companion and caretaker to her father, and Robert became proficient in many fields and ultimately became an entrepreneur. Jonni and Robert Sr. eventually divorced, and she later returned to West Virginia as Harriette Williams.
Jonni’s grandchildren from both Darrell and Robert were among her greatest blessings. Robert’s children spent summers with her at the family house, and Darrell’s son Chris, who lived nearby, was with her often until her final days. They brought Jonni great love and pride.
Jonni praised God for both her blessings and her challenges, remaining steadfast in her trust in Christ. She grew up in Samaritan Baptist Church in Institute, WV, and later became a member of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship under Rev. Coberly, Sr. There, she was cherished as a church mother who shared her wisdom and testimony.
Jonni always had a special bond with animals, especially her beloved dogs who were her greatest companions. Wherever she lived, she formed warm friendships with neighbors and their pets. Even into her eighties, she walked the neighborhood and shared her love with every animal she met.
Jonni was predeceased by her parents, eldest son, Darrell Scott, grandson, Marquis Carter and granddaughter, Chaine’ L. Carter. Jonni is survived by her son, Robert J. Livingston, Jr., grandson, Todd Christopher Livingston (Shambra), granddaughter, Debra Janel Carter, four siblings, Delores Marie Davis, Donna Ruth Trammell, Carlotta Ann Anglin, and Ronald Wyatt Williams, sister-in-law, Sylvia Williams, daughter-in-law, Cathy Livingston, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members.
