"Well done, good and faithful servant...
Enter into the joy of your Lord."
- Matthew 25:23
Gregory James Peterson passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Fort Collins, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. He proudly called Loveland, Colorado home.
Greg grew up in Breckenridge, Colorado, where the mountains shaped both his spirit and faith. He was a lifelong skier and hiker, finding God most clearly in the stillness of the mountains.
Teaching and coaching basketball were his ministry. Over five decades, Greg shaped countless lives with patience, integrity, and compassion. He taught at multiple schools, including Loveland High School, Bill Reed Middle School, and Front Range Community College.
As a basketball coach, Greg led the Loveland High School women's program and continued coaching through his daughter's club team. In later years, he also treasured the opportunity to briefly coach his granddaughter in soccer, sharing his love of the game and time together on the field.
Above all else, Greg treasured his family. His greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved, sharing laughter, encouragement, and meaningful moments together.
He is survived by his siblings Rick Peterson, Gretchen Schlechten, and Mathew Peterson; his children Katherine Rasnic and Brett Peterson; his beloved granddaughters Hayden Rasnic and Hazel Rasnic; his best friend Carol Peterson; and his son-in-law Joseph Rasnic.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Peterson and Joanne Peterson.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
- 2 Timothy 4:7
