I was blessed enough to have Greg as my teacher last semester in my 0300 math class. Greg hosted a study session that lasted for three hours prior to our 3:30 class. My schedule just so happened to align perfectly with this study session so Greg and I ended up spending a lot of time together. About a year and a half ago I was left paralyzed from the chest down, and since then I have faced a fair share of difficulties, getting back to life as normal. Towards the end of this semester, this gave us a lot in common to talk about. When Greg opened up to me and told me that he was sick I never knew just how sick he was or how much time he had left in his life. Throughout these hours of studying Greg became a mentor of mine whose information I cherish deeply. Seeing someone who knows their nearing the end of their life be so comforted and at peace really makes you take a step back and look at your own life. Before he passed, I messaged him on our websites, internal messaging and thanked him for. Everything he’s provided for me academically and emotionally and I was glad I was able to let him know how much he’s done for me even if I didn’t get to say it to him in person. I’m so glad I got to grow close with him through this time and it’s not hard to see how he’s positively changed so many people’s lives for the better.

We feel deep sorrow for your family's great loss. Our daughter, Megan, had a long math history with both Petersons, beginning at Bill Reed and continuing through LHS. She was taught and absorbed a lot of numbers in those 6 years. Mr. Peterson would likely get a chuckle from hearing that she is especially good with money😊 Finding good deals on everything, especially travel, gives her a thrill. I suppose there could be stranger hobbies. Because we were avid LHS BB fans, we saw a lot of the family during the season. Katie and Brett, you were very young and especially cute, as little kids are, and I took tons of photos of you in the bleachers during those games. Ever the proud parent, your dad beamed each time he saw your sweet faces in the most recent photos I'd give him. He was a friendly, kind and pleasant man and we always enjoyed our visits with him each time we'd meet up. Our hearts ache for you.

Katie, Brett,
There are no words that can be said to express how deeply sad I feel in the loss of your Dad.  Greg was one of the best, I am confident he is with Our Lord at this time, and we are all left with many great memories of a Dad, and just a great friend. Call me anytime you just need to talk. Love both of you.

Greg was a kind, caring, helpful neighbor, and a good friend. I enjoyed what I like to call our driveway chats. We would talk about what was going on in the neighborhood and various other things, but we would always end up talking about our families and our granddaughters. Family meant a great deal to Greg, and his granddaughters Hayden and Hazel were the joy and love of his life. When we would talk about our granddaughters Greg would get a big smile on his face and his eyes would light up.
One of my favorite memories of Greg was in the fall Greg and his granddaughters would rake up a big pile of leaves and Greg would enjoy watching Hayden and Hazel play and jump into the pile of leaves.
We were blessed to have had Greg in our lives, and we will miss Him.
Love,
Rick & Patty Roehrs

Above all, my condolences to the family and friends of Greg. We all had individual interactions with him. I am lucky that during his time at Bill Reed he was supportive of my use of the school darkroom through which I taught photography to the district's GT middle school students. Also, Greg and Carol often hosted staff gatherings at their home. Their daughter Katie was both a student in GT photo, and ultimately helped me assemble an exhibit for the local museum. A shared love: Snickers candy bars, and my supply was kept in the darkroom and readily shared with Greg. He was a supportive professional and a personable, fun-loving guy that gave Bill Reed Middle School a definitive, special character that took care of its students well.Â
