Gordon's obituary

Mr. Gordon Foster, age 67 of Soperton, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was born February 19, 1955 in Leesburg, Florida to the late Jerry J. Foster and Gladys Brown. After graduation from Leesburg High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1973. Gordon served on active duty in military intelligence, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service, and served three years in the Army National Guard. He attended Lake-Sumter College and obtained an Associate’s degree in Criminology in 1980. His career in criminal justice included being a patrol officer, motorcycle officer, and sergeant with both positions at Dublin Police Department, and he was later a sergeant with the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was a Georgia POST certified instructor in general subjects and the High Liability subject area of emergency medicine. Additional certifications included EMT, First Aid, CPR instructor, and TASER conducted Electrical Weapon Instructor. After working in the insurance business for thirteen years as an examiner of claims that were in litigation or involved serious injuries or death, Gordon was afforded the opportunity to return to the law enforcement profession by Sheriff Tommy Corbin and served as a deputy since 2013. He was currently employed as a bus driver by Treutlen County Board of Education. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Vidalia.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-one years, Gina Moore Foster of Soperton; one daughter Jade (Jericho), and one grandson Barrett, all of Salado, Texas; one sister Kimberly of Dublin; and several stepsiblings, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 23rd, at 11:00 AM at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Braddy Cemetery in Kibbee.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until just prior to the service.
