Giovanna's obituary

Obituary of Giovanna Dibble

Giovanna Pietropaolo Dibble peacefully departed this world on July 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 2, 1932, in Canandaigua, NY, to a newly immigrated Italian family, Giovanna embraced life with grace and kindness. She resided near the Wood Library in recent years, finding solace in its embrace. Giovanna graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1951. Was married in 1953 and had six children by 1962. Her varied career included roles at Rochester Telephone, Kodak, The Board of Underwriters, Wicks Lumber and Ontario County. Giovanna's ultimate passion was motherhood. She echoed Rose Kennedy's sentiment "child rearing is not only a work of love and duty but a profession that is fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession". As a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Giovanna embodied tolerance, love, generosity and encouragement. She was energetic and fun and shared her passion for literature and music, instilling that passion in her children. Authors, Kahlil Gibran, Eckhart Tolle, Hazrat Inayat Khan and Robert Louis Stevenson were among her favorites. Giovanna found joy in cooking and dancing, embracing each moment with enthusiasm. She aged gracefully, remaining stylish throughout her life. While she will be deeply mourned and missed, Giovanna's enduring love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.

Giovanna was predeceased by her husband, Edmond Dibble; her son, Spencer Dibble; her brothers, Joseph, James and Dominic Pietropaolo; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pietropaolo and Ruth Cole; her nieces, Vicky Blakesley and Robin Pietropaolo.

Giovanna is survived by her children, Karen (Randy) Jacque, Rhonda Fischer, Judith Gates, Jason Dibble, Edmond (Janet) Dibble; her daughter-in-law, Mari Dibble; her sister, Natalizia (Richard) Blakesley; her sister-in-law, Patricia Pietropaolo; her brother-in- law, Bruce Cole; her nieces, Vandy (Brian) Griffin, Darcy Pietropaolo, Sharon Blakesley, Lynda Ashwell; her nephews, Eric (Robin) Blakesley, Hale and John(Patricia) Pietropaolo; her grandchildren, Kristy(Jeremy) Sager, Robert Gates, Oliver (Lena) Fischer, Nicholas (Megan) Fischer, Sarah (James) Hoyle, Timothy (Virginia) Fischer, Kurt Dibble, Eric Voss, Elizabeth Dibble, Edmond Dibble, Nicole(Tiffany) Dibble and numerous great grandchildren.

"Remember friends, as you pass by, as you are now, so once was I. As I am now, you shall be. Prepare for death and follow me."
