Personal note from Janelle Rivers, Georgene’s celebration of life

Juju was the kind of person who left a lasting impression in every room she entered. Her wit was sharp, her comebacks legendary, and her laughter contagious. There was never a dull moment in her presence—she was a bright, beautiful burst of joy who lit up our lives with her bubbly personality and boundless energy.

To me, I could never say Georgene so juju it became. And juju stuck with her. Juju was more than just a big sister—she was a soulmate in sibling form. Thirteen years and six hundred miles separated us but neither time nor distance could ever put space between our hearts. Our bond was one of laughter, instinct, and unspoken understanding. We could read each other’s minds, often calling just to sit on the phone together, finding comfort in the closeness of their voices. We’d send each other TikToks and reels “just because,” and somehow, we always ended up buying the same things without even knowing. It was a connection only sisters could know—timeless, joyful, and irreplaceable. And that connection lives on, even now.
