Gaynell's obituary
Gay grew up in Castleton, New York, and later in life resided in her parents' home. She had varied careers over the years, always dedicating her best efforts, and retired at age 78 from the New York State Office For The Aging. She loved the warmth and sunny weather of her Florida home.
Gay was very charitable and always willing to help others. After a few years of slowly declining health, including dementia, Gay is now back to her old feisty self in a new life.
Gay was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, infant son Brian, and former husband Emil. Gay is survived by her daughter Corby Holliday, grandsons Padraic and Dennin Ellis, longtime companion Dan Self, nieces, nephews and cousins, and Corby's stepson Tom Holliday and family. She is also survived by a daughter, Mina Crist.
Corby and Dan would like to thank Oak Manor Nursing Home in Florida for their care of Gay. There will be no services due to COVID concerns. Internment will be in Gay's family plot in Castleton.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or Alzheimer's Association.
