Background
My incredible dad, Gary Richards, loved by so many and such a dedicated husband, father to me and my sister, Ariana, grandfather of four, brother, son, mentor, business professional, community support member, and SO MUCH more passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, the 11th of May, 2022.
He came from a long line of predecessors who lived to be 100 years or older in his family, and we all fully expected his vibrant, health-conscious, ever-present self to outlive even the oldest of his ancestors!
His beloved wife of 50 years, Darielle, is now left with a mountain of medical bills that arose out of his sudden passing.
He was admitted to the ER in Silverton, OR, with the discovery of a twist in his colon that caused an obstruction. The corrective procedure was not expected to be life threatening and we all anticipated a speedy return home after the surgery. This wasn’t to be the case.
What was to be a minor procedure led to a complication, then an attempted life-saving surgery, and an around-the-clock team of doctors. There was a final attempt to save his life via Life Flight to the ICU at Legacy Emanuel Memorial Hospital in Portland, concluding with memorial costs that followed the lost battle. Unfortunately, much of these critical services were not covered by his medical benefits.
While flowers are always appreciated, my parents have been avid gardeners through their lifetimes and are surrounded by flowers in their home. That being said, financial support will be of greatest value and deeply appreciated, in truly any amount that is comfortable in this time.
Every donation will go directly to Darielle as she navigates this new life transition. Your name and gift will not be visible to others, only known to my mother, and will be a blessing and a singnificant help to her. Your love and caring, above all, mean the world to her, and I am certain, to Gary, Heaven’s newest Angel watching over us all from above.
Thank you for being here and sharing your love in this time of grief.
In Gratitude,
