Gail Donahue Farison (known to many as Bunny Grandma) passed away on Monday December 22, 2025 in Yucca Valley, CA, in the early hours of the morning, at home and surrounded by family. She is survived by her sons Mark and Jeff, daughters-in-law Janel and Lisa, grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law, Seth, Abbey, Sadie, Michael, Elisenda, and Andrew, great-grandchildren, Mabel, Oliver, Lucie, and Kai, and sister Penny. We know that she has gone to heaven to be with Jesus and her beloved husband of over 50 years, James. Gail was born in New York, New York on April 7, 1940. She spent much of her childhood moving frequently with her military family, including many years spent in Austria. She met James B Farison at an Intervarsity event in college, and was married to him on March 30, 1961. A few years after marriage, they moved into a house in Toledo, Ohio, where they raised sons Jeffrey and Mark. In 1999, they moved to Waco, Texas where Jim had a job at Baylor University and where they lived until Jim's passing in 2017. Gail was well known to and beloved by many, and deeply involved in her community, especially through her church. She will be remembered for her sharp wit and humor, as well as her constant kindness and generosity. She had a deep abiding love for the Lord, and was an example and teacher to many throughout her life. She was an avid knitter, giving many sweaters, socks, baby clothes, and doll clothes that will be treasured by her friends and family. She loved cats and rabbits, and spent many years lovingly offering treats to her neighbor's cats to lure them to her porch. In the 1980s, her son and daughter-in-law brought her two baby bunnies, starting a long legacy that led to all of her grandchildren knowing her as Bunny Grandma. Over the years, she was mama to eight rabbits, each well loved and deeply cared for. In 2023, she moved to Yucca Valley, CA to live with her son and daughter-in-law, where she spent one and a half years joyfully spending her days with Janel and getting visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2024, she had a stroke, the complications of which led to her eventual passing. It is near impossible to find the words to express the legacy she leaves behind, the joy and kindness and wisdom that she gave to those around her, or the sorrow of being without her, but we know that there are many who loved her and who understand.
