My parents were not able to fly back to Hong Kong due to Covid (no flights) back in early 2020. Thanks Susan and thanks Fu-Tin for being the wonderful host invitaing us over to yohr home sweet home for dinner. We found out that night that uncle Fu-Tin and my father went to take the same exam in Hong Kong back when they were teenagers. Small word! It was an unforgettable evening. RIP uncle Fu-Tin💐🙏

They met in Hong Kong during their first year at King's College, a government-run, English-speaking, secondary school and were friends throughout their years there. Hing left for Canada to attend University of British Columbia (UBC) to study engineering. Fu-Tin followed after working for at a government office to earn enough money. They rented an entire basement together with another friend  for $39/month. They cooked together and walked to the university gates to save ten cents. They worked in the BC Forest Services to build logging roads, hard work but they got free room (tent) and board. Hing went to Hamilton to study for his masters and PhD. Fu-Tin went to work at Canadian General Electric. We visited each other in Hamilton, Toronto, Peterborough. We stayed in a cottages by the lake, picnicked in the park, and played with our son Dave. We met up again in California. Hing and his wife Maggie visited when Fu-Tin has Sezary Syndrome, when he had sepsis and was in the ICU, when he suffered a stroke, and then when he suffered a fall. Finally, he was there at the end.
