Frederick Martin Cay passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3 after a long illness. Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Frances Cay (nee Martin) and father, Frederick Mason Cay. Born in Southeast Ohio, he spent many years in Northeast Ohio. He was a long-time resident of the Highland Square area in West Akron. Fred graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Communication and Media Studies. He was a Correspondent for the Akron Beacon Journal covering local community activities and sporting events. His favorite sport was Major league Baseball, and his favorite team was the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. He enjoyed just having a beer with the boys and watching baseball and playing on trivia teams. Fred loved playing in fantasy baseball leagues many times in more than one league. Fred was a devoted son and a dear friend to many. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 at the Burntwood Tavern, 3750 W Market St, Fairlawn, OH 44333 with a luncheon following at 1 p.m.
