So sorry for your loss Floy was a sweet and special person  always smiling and happy. I met her when  I was taking care of her mom  in assisted living. May your family find peace  and comfort knowing she’s in the lords hands now.
I remember a coffee shop, my first get-together after the first NA meeting I attended in Austin. There were many of us at the restaurant, and I sat across from Floy. Floy'ss energy and bigger-than-life laughter added to my comfort.  We connected in a huge way, that memory is never forgotten. Keep us laughing within your memory,  dear lady!!!

Floy Hester Memorial College Scholarship

The family of Floy Hester is exited to offer our first annual College Scholarship. We will be accepting applications at foreveraflowerchild@yahoo.com.

Drug and alcohol addiction can tear a family apart. Besides the emotional trauma addiction can cause, it may also leave a family financially at risk. Our goal is to provide support for the recovering addict/alcoholic or their children.

Every Applicant must write a personal statement as to how their life was affected by addiction and how they will break the cycle to earn the Floy Hester Memorial Scholarship(500 words max).

The winner will be chosen by July 1st, 2021.

Applicants must show strong leadership in their community, have one year free of their addiction and must enroll for 12 credit hours during the first semester.

Floy Hester Memorial gives awards of $500 for students attending community college, four-year university, trade school or technical school.

Awarded funds must be spent on college tuition, room/board, or other education related expenses.

Floy and friends headed to 2010 international convention in San Antonio. She stole my pillow and pretended to be asleep and then told me about it the next day! We had so much fun on that trip.

My mom’s recovery was such a big part of her life. It makes my heart happy to see all these stories of how she made an impact on someone else’s getting/staying clean! Thanks for sharing!!
I met her early in my recovery. She was so full of love and hope. She really helped me look up on the gray days. I so loved her.
She was my first sponser. I was her first sponsee. I remember the first time i saw her at shoal creak hosp at a meeting. She was like a ray of sunshine. A smile as big as the state of texas and when she spoke that night of how her life had gone from darkness and desperation to something so beautiful and she was happy i knew i had to know more about her. She has literally saved my life. And said once girl i thought you were going to die on me. And she said i had to accept that i couldnt save you but you had to save yourself. But ill be so glad to show you the way i did it. And she did. I hope you are all fortunate enough to experience someone so magical and beautiful. Many of you can agree. She was a fighter. She loved well and was passionate about the life she created for herself. I never heard her complain. She always said im just so grateful that god has given me some more time on this earth to love my people. Not feeling she deserved it once but god had shown her grace. She always spoke to me with that smile on her face with that sweet texas draw. She is one of the few that impacted my life to the core of my existence. Im so grateful to the universe for the gifts it has given me in this life. Floy being a huge gift. I will love this beautiful ray of sunshine until i take my last breath. I love you Floy!!
I love you pam and jj. Your mama did good. Im so sorry for your loss

I met Floy at 11:00am on a Wednesday morning in October of 2010. She was the only person sitting there. She said,"Welcome home honey. My name is Floy." She asked me if I was ready to start my new life today. I told her that I wasn't sure and she laughed. She was the one who laughed at me when needed and gave me honesty when I needed it. Always, the hugs and love were there for me! I will miss her very much!

I was on vacation in NYC waiting in line to buy show tickets when the phone rang. It was Floy calling to check ob me since she hadn't seen me at meetings all week. She 3as worried that I might be drinking! Love and miss you, Floy.
