I had the privilege of doing the upgrades to Fleur and Arnaud's house. One day Fleur and I were talking about a Jules Verne novel, and of course I completely butchered the pronunciation of the title. After correcting me, she offered to teach me French every day after work! I gladly accepted and we got started. But after a week, I realized it wasn't working out too well as I still had a long drive home, and I was taking away time she would otherwise be spending with the girls. I did sign up with an online course and told Fleur I would keep her updated on my progress. The lesson would first read a sentence in French, then give the translation. When I heard this particular sentence, I thought I knew what it meant but it wrong to teach to say, "I am a retard." The sentence was "Je suis en retard." When I messaged Fleur about my blunder, she messaged back that she literally fell off her chair laughing at me. 

Oh well, the whole thing was her idea to begin with!

My dear Fleur, you are gone too soon. You gave so very much, never asking for anything in return. We were all so blessed to have you in our lives. I send my love to you. May you rest in peace, and may your loves find comfort. I will miss you, my friend. Bon Voyage.
