The Four Star Theater is the final place Mua saw me play music, but it was also her final outing in November 2025. When I inquired about potentially holding the memorial there, the venue manager said,

"Your family was incredibly sweet and enthusiastic so I remember them well. They made my night that evening and I'd love to open up the space to you for this."

Aside from the fact that they captured the picture of my mom's personality in one sentence, I believe that she would've wanted to be remembered in a place where she felt happiness and joy - rather than some kind of drab funeral home that she'd never stepped foot in.

At this memorial, we will tell the enchanting story of her life.  We will open the floor to share memories and love. It will be a platform for us to tell the story of who we are - celebrating our Samoan heritage, as she would've wanted.  At the end of the service, we will perform a large-scale, moving piece of music titled "If You Were Here Now" that was written in waves in the days after she passed away.

This memorial service will be live-streamed to our family in Samoa, as well as recorded. 

It is open to the public. Anyone who knew my mom, would like to know more about our family, or just join in this deeply important community ritual can and should come.
