Everett's obituary
Everett “Rett” Erick Erickson
June 9, 1952 - January 19, 2026
Rett passed away peacefully under the care of Sutter Hospice in his home in Santa Rosa, CA. Special appreciation is due to his caregivers, Jesus, Shay, and Brandi, for your attentive care, affection and loyalty in his final months of life.
Surviving him are:
Two sons, Zachary Erickson (Forest Grove, OR) and Chase Stewart (Beaverton, OR), of whom he was most proud; three grandsons, Bear, Brooks and Jackson; his sister, Kristine Thompson (Torrance, CA); cousin Robert Bennett (Santa Rosa), spouse Amy Rosulek Erickson (Angels Camp, CA); in-laws Robert and Deborah Rosulek (Village of Lakewood, IL).
Rett is predeceased by his parents, Ernie and Barbara Erickson, and his beloved dog, Loki. He was a native Californian- born in LA, childhood years in Torrance, and educated at UC Riverside, and later, earned his Masters degree at Sonoma State. He suffered a spinal cord injury at age 15, as a result of a car accident, and underwent extensive rehab at the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey.
He moved north to Santa Rosa in the mid-1980s and embarked on a 30-plus-year career at Sonoma National Bank in loan appraisals.
As a young man, he traveled to the Philippines, Guaymas, Mexico and Vancouver, Canada. He attended 27 annual summer campouts with a cadre of disabled friends, attendants and their young families across central and northern CA campgrounds.
Rett inspired all of us to live an adventurous life. He sought out opportunities to advocate and educate on handicapped topics and mentor disabled youth. He proved resilience to be his super-power. Rett was a kind and generous man who will be long-remembered rolling downtown to lunch at Mac’s, singing “Uncle John’s Band”.
A celebration of life memorial BBQ to be planned later- please visit Rett’s digital memorial at everloved.com for announcement and details.
