Evelyn’s warmth, enthusiasm and pure kindness drew everyone to her. I remember that from our YWD days in New York and from spending time with her on my frequent trips to Florida. Her pure and generous spirit really moved me. My sincere condolences to Ian and the family. You and wonderful Evelyn are in our thoughts and prayers.
Missing Mama Evelyn, sending you lots of love from me to you,

So many wonderful stories about Evelyn, that it is difficult to highlight just one. But one has stayed with me as we witnessed her growth as a SGI Leader.

Evelyn and I were co-District Leaders and we were scheduled to deliver our first Study Lecture. We were nervous and had to follow big shoes by left by Ian, who delivered memorable lectures. Evelyn was so nervous that it was difficult to complete her part. After that experience she vowed to conquer that fear.

We all watched Evelyn's growth from that day to evolved into Region Leadership and delivering lectures in front of a large audience, to delivering words of encouragement at the end of District Meetings. Her growth and determination was inspirational. When I struggle with uncomfortable situations, I remember that experience on How to overcome your fears. I am thankful for the time we spent together and witnessing that determination and eventually winning. That memory fills my mind every time I think of Evelyn and challenging ourselves. I am grateful to have been a small part of her life. Evelyn you will be missed by me, Jackie, Cassia and Javier. See you in the next life.

Maurice

I met Evelyn from attending many FNCC conferences over the years. I always appreciated her kindness and care. From the way Evelyn's exceptional personality shined through, I know she was that way with everyone she met. My deepest condolences to Ian, Alex, and her extended family, during this difficult time. It was November 2012; My wife and I were scheduled to go to FNCC/veterans' conference . Evelyn was our Liaison for FNCC. My Wife had a Heart attack and was in CCU,,,I called Evelyn to cancel our seats' at the conference...I was a wreck..Evelyn had great faith in," NMHRGK" (Nichiren's Buddhism),it kicked in and she really lifted me up, her warm encouragement helped me than and now. Thank You Evelyn; Eternal Love and Gratitude and Protection for all your Family.
Thank you Evey for watering my seed of faith. You taught and encouraged me to never give up. You showed me how to plant many deep rooted seeds to strangers of this Buddhist practice and promised me it was ok if they didn't practice right away, they would never forget. You taught me to strive in my faith like flowing water. You showed me through your winning life experiences, that with prayer and determination " I will win" " I will become truly happy". You would remind me" just keep making causes". "Don't give up, you are halfway there". Evey was everyone's cheerleader.
This past week has been extremely difficult to see beyond, to know, to understand. Yet, like many, I believe we live many lifetimes. We sleep, we refresh and wake up anew. Evey is a gem. Her light will continue to brighten our days. Thank you for cheering me on, for teaching me how to shine my mirror, but most importantly, for being mi amiga, my sister in faith. #NMRK 💜

Sobran las palabras para describir lo que fue esta gran bodhisatva. Sus alientos. Su dedicacion. Su optimismo. Su alegria y su inspiracion siempre a flor de piel. Se te extrañara mucho linda Evelyn. Buen viaje
Evelyn was an amazing educator, scholar and leader as well as one of the nicest people I have ever met. She changed and improved the lives of everyone. Thank you, Evelyn, for making the world a better place.
Another good moment with a treasured sister!
I was fortunate to meet Evelyn in Florida at the SGI Florida Culture Center. She was so bright, warm, and welcoming. A true highlight of my stay in Florida was meeting Evelyn. Sending love and prayers to her dear family and friends.
I appreciate Evelyn’s heart of pure gold! I’ll be chanting for her absolute victory lifetime after lifetime and I send my love to all those grieving. -Aileen
I was privileged to know Evelyn my whole life. She and my mom Bernice grew up together. When my twin sister and I were born she became God Mother Evey. As a child I can remember spending the night at her home in the Bronx and her always being a constant in our lives. She was always encouraging and full of positivity. She certainly was a bright light that trickled on everyone she came in contact with. Her earthly presence will be missed but with a light that shined as bright as hers and the love for everyone she encountered the connection is eternal. Let’s celebrate her life as she would have wanted!
Words cannot adequately express my sorrow and condolences to the Willoughby family. I will miss Evelyn's radiant smile, her compassion for humanity and the ability she possessed to heal us with visions of how to achieve victory in all aspects of our life. She taught us how to fight and never give up our dignity and cherish every moment.
Saddened to hear about Evelyn's passing away. May lord give her family the strength to face this difficult time of sorrow. May her soul rest in peace. NMRK. 🙏
