Evan was known for his love of movies, especially monsters and horror, and once proudly displayed a full wall of DVDs. You could find him going to concerts with friends in his younger years, and he enjoyed good music, usually with a deeper meaning to them. He was a HUGE Steelers fan, cheering his team through every season. He had a passion for sneakers and enjoyed when his kids had the coolest kicks. Always a jokester, Evan had a natural gift for making people laugh and brightening the room with his humor and one-liners.
Through the years, Evan faced some challenges, including the tragic loss of the mothers of two of his children, both of whom passed away while the children were young. Then there was his father’s unexpected passing, which was a profound loss that deeply affected him. These losses weighed heavily on him. In recent years, Evan worked hard to try to make things better as he struggled with his mental health and using alcohol to cope. He made the decision to move to Kansas City and took important steps toward healing, participating in grief counseling, recovery and support programs. He would say that he was doing this so he could provide a better life for his children and face his responsibilities with a good head on his shoulders. He dreamed of moving down south to live on the beach with his kids, he had a lot of dreams!
His journey is a reminder of the strength it takes to face life’s struggles, and of the importance of compassion, support, and second chances, because you can’t do it alone. Through all of it, those who knew Evan will remember him for who he truly was: a hardworking, kind, and funny guy - a jokester who brought smiles to the people around him. He was so fun to be around!
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the many friends and relatives who stepped in to help care for his children and support him over the years.
