Eugene's obituary

Eugene Williams Jr., affectionately known as "Mancy," was born April 3, 1953, in Climax, Georgia, to Eugene Williams and Ernestine (Hines) Williams. At the age of 9, he moved with his family to Newark, NJ, where he earned a full academic scholarship to Seton Hall University. Diligently working for the U.S. Postal Service to support his family, Eugene earned his Bachelor's degree in Education. With a passion for teaching, he began his career as a middle school math teacher while continuing his service at the Post Office. Eventually, he relocated to Jacksonville, FL, embarking on a new journey in the hospitality industry. Through hard work and dedication, he rose from housekeeping to Director of Hospitality, traveling the country, making a lasting impact on those he encountered. One of those stops was the Charlotte Marriott in North Carolina in 1997, where he met his future wife and her two young children. After 8 years of dating, Becky and Gene decided to marry on July 31, 2004. After years of dedication, he retired in Denton, TX, before settling in North Carolina. Eugene was a man of deep connections, always keeping in touch with loved ones and forming bonds with everyone he met. His warm personality, wisdom, and kindness left a lasting impression on many. He had a special gift with children and a passion for fishing, never passing up a body of water without casting a line. A devoted sports fan, basketball was his favorite, his knowledge of sports statistics was unmatched. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Ernestine Williams (Hines), Eugene Williams; his grandmother, Mary Lizzie Williams; his sisters, Linda Williams and Gwendolyn Williams. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rebecca Kuehl-Williams; his children, Bonita Allen (David), Eugene Williams III (Jori); stepchildren, Ryan Aguilar (Summer), Joseph White (Amanda); cherished grandchildren, Adara Williams, Mykala (Tremaine), Robert, Braxton; his sister, Shirley Evans (Al, deceased); brother, Derrick Williams (Wisteria); Janice Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
