With humble acceptance of God's will, we announce the passing of Eugene Robert (Bob) Simmons, age 81, on December 27, 2023.

Born on January 13, 1942, in Pennsylvania and raised in California, he made Alabama his home in 1973. 

He served his country and joined the Air Force in 1960.  He worked in commercial and private aviation as a pilot and instructor. Bob was an accomplished musician, playing the pedal steel guitar for over 50 years with many well known musicians. He designed, built, and sold his own guitars, Simmons Pedal Steel Guitars, for over 40 years and was the owner of Simmons Music Store in the late 70's, early 80's. He shared a deep passion for his favorite hobby, model trains, and owned Trackside Specialties.

He is predeceased by his son, Kevin Simmons, and his granddaughter, Laura Pendley.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Simmons; son, Sean Simmons and his wife, Christine; daughter, Kimberley, and her husband, William Hudson.
