My memories of my dear Uncle Steve go way back...to my very early years when he drove his new Mercury to Glen Echo Park in Maryland. It was my first amusement park and he bought me a souvenir pennant, so popular at the time. He won my heart. A few years later he released the architect in me when he introduced me to all those bathroom tiles, all those colors! And I spent my summer morning in the shade building the numerous castles and mansions of my dreams, and the endless city planner designs. But more importantly he was a man of peace, always calm, always smiling...a dear family man. And I have been blessed to call him uncle and have him in my life.
I just saw this post. Mr. Betancourt was a very nice man. His skill with tile was unmatched. I knew Sandra, one of his daughters, in my early 20's. Glad to read that she and Marie are doing well. Denny Chapman
We will always remember Steve climbing high up into his trees to cut limbs and prune them just so. He always left fresh produce from his garden on our front porch. He did a lot of our tile work and was so meticulous. He was a fantastic neighbor for almost 42 years. He will be missed. Sharon and Jerry Honn
I loved being with Uncle Steve, Uncle Gigi, and my father, Serafino putting up tile for Carera Tile; and Uncle Steve and his cafenito😀😀 many years ago. More recently spending time with him as he recollected his stories with me😀. Ti voglio bene assai zio, love Johnny
