Background
Esteban was deeply moved by the extensive damage and human suffering that followed in the wake of Hurricane Maria. He would often express regret over the many obstacles encountered by the relief effort, obstacles that were too often a result of poor leadership. The family Esteban said goodbye to all those years ago -- his relatives in Puerto Rico, faced a humanitarian disaster, and it's impacts will persist for years.
