Eating popcorn on the couch — with Erik and Caroline
I went to high school with Erik and had the privilege to share a few classes with him. Though we may not have exchanged more than a few words, I remember the glowing energy heโ€™d bring into a room. His smile radiated kindness, and heโ€™d approach everyone with humility. I pray his family and friends find strength during this difficult time. I hope you can find peace knowing he touched the lives of many. Thank you for sharing Erik with the world.ย

I had the honor of being Erik's instructor during his private pilot training. He was a naturally gifted aviator and great person who always had an infectiously positive attitude. I am proud to have been apart of his journey. He will be missed.ย
Bruce, Joanie & family - We just found out about the loss of Eric.ย  Words can't express how sorry we are.ย  Please know that you're all in our thoughts and prayers.ย  May God bless and keep you.ย  Love, Wayne & Linda Horton
I'll miss eating lunch and goofing off in AP world and calc with you. Rest in Peace Erik

We are so sorry for your loss. Wishing you all moments of peace and comfort as you remember Erik. ย Please let us know if you need help with anything, we are here for you and the family. ย

Our love thoughts and prayers, Terry & Kathy Wallace

Erik- you excelled in everything you ever did and were the most amazing cousin, son, brother, pilot, instructor, friend and (hate to admit) but ping pong player. I am forever thankful for the week you came to visit and it was just us making silly dubsmash videos, traveling around new york and just having fun. My favorite memory will be us playing ping pong for so long, that you were dripping sweat as if you just ran a marathon.. I will never forget beating you in the Gramps Garage tournament.. one of my biggest and greatest accomplishments!! Thanks for always striving to make me a better person, player and cousin. You brought something so special to life and my only wish is that our time didnโ€™t get cut so short. Our memories at Fair Haven, Gramps Garage and in Vegas will never fade. I love you Erik and iโ€™ll always be looking for you in the skies.โค๏ธโœˆ๏ธ

I became friends with Erik my senior year of high school when we were assigned seats in the same table during a class. We became friends after joking about how we โ€œhad to share the spotlightโ€ on February 5, because we shared the same birthday. Erik was kind to everyone he met, was the person who made us all cry from laughter, and even though he was in a group with three girls, he didnโ€™t mind. He was one of the smartest kids in the room, but was humble about it. I remember one time I came to class in tears because I did terribly on our math test, and Erik got up to get me a bunch of tissues, told me not to worry, and started to help me after school with math. I ended up getting an A on the next test we had. We ended up talking about everything you could have imagined, and I really got to know Erik as a selfless individual and someone who gained all of my respect.ย

I was never part of his immediate friend group, and it speaks volumes about his character that that didnโ€™t matter to him; he was nice to you regardless of who you were. You didnโ€™t have to be popular to be his friend. You didnโ€™t have to be his friend first to receive his kindness.ย

I hated many parts of high school, but the memories that I made with Erik became a large part of why my senior year was by far my favorite year. I still talk about how we failed to take care of an ecosystem of worms, our awful dance routines, how heโ€™d secretly help me understand AP Calculus, and how he and our class iguana got along. Our class group during the pandemic talked about reconnecting and promised to keep in touch. Weโ€™ll never forget him, and weโ€™ll make sure that Erikโ€™s memories continue to live on.

ย It was an honor, privilege, and blessing to be Erikโ€™s friend, and Iโ€™ll continue to remember him every February 5th.ย

Erik was a great co-worker and an even better flight instructor. On behalf of myself and all of us at OU Aviation, he will be dearly missed.ย
Praying for Erikโ€™s family as they endure the unimaginable and unexpected loss of their precious son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. May the peace of our Lord and Savior be with you all, lifting you up as you navigate this difficult time. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’”
