I didn't know Eric personally, but I had huge respect for his talent. His voice was definitely an acquired taste, but for those of us who had acquired that taste, he ranked among the top rock vocalists in history. He was not only a great poet/singer/songwriter. In my mind, his voice alongside the deep, heavy guitar tones of Bruce Franklin and Rick Wartell was one of those iconic rock pairings like Page and Plant, Jagger and Richards, or Ozzy and Iommi. I appreciated his work with Lid, Blackfinger and the Skull, but always harbored a hope that he and Trouble would reunite, even though I believe that I understand why that was impossible. Eric has left behind music that has had, and likely will continue to have, a major impact on me. It's truly tragic that he died needlessly of a preventable illness. RIP.

In addition to knowing him from the band, Trouble, he was a long time neighbor of mine, and my son, Joe and his son, Zach became good friends. Prayers to his family!
