One day when I was about 6 years old, Eric need help practicing his pitches for his softball league. We were in the back of the Waipahu house yard in the formation of a pitcher and a catcher. Eric as the pitcher, of course. Without any safety equipment, only a mitten to catch, Eric winds up for the pitch and the sun grazed my eyesight. I was struck in my diaphragm from fastest pitch I have ever tried to catch from him. Laid in the grass, gasping for air, he comes over and says he was very sorry and not to tell mom and dad. After a few minutes, it was my turn! Still on the side where the sun effected my vision, it didn't have effect on my focus to try to assimilate the same pitch. I threw the ball back to Eric, but it was a little too low for him to catch that he too also laid in the grass till he was able to compose himself for another practice pitch.

This news hit me like that pitch Eric threw. God rest his soul.
