Dr. Emory Heyward, Jr., 81, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on January 01, 2023 after battling multiple illnesses but finally succumbing to diastolic congestive heart failure and pneumonia after a long and valiant fight.

Emory was born on August 27, 1941 to Emory S. Heyward, Sr. and Louise Powell Heyward in Macon, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he went on to study at Mercer College earning his BA in 1963, then went on to …

My dad was such a strong and loving man. His stubborn nature served him well during his many health issues as it helped him refuse to give up. He was the most special man I've ever known, and I am so proud to have been able to call him Dad. I cannot express my grief or how much I will miss him every day. Thank you to all of those who cared for him and supported my family throughout his struggles.

Memorial events are private

As per his request, there will be a private graveside service at Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin, Tennessee where he will be laid to rest next to his loving daughter, Julia Lynn Heyward.
