Hi Earl, my condolences to your family. I've been working on my family tree and found out that you're my second-cousin, which makes Emily and my Dad (Carlos) first cousins, and your grandmother Alicia was sister to my grandfather Juan. So thank you for sharing Emily's story, sounds like she was a great woman, wish I could've met her. A warm hug from Panama!
Emily was so amazing.  We are so sorry for your loss.  But really her loss is everyone's loss.  There was never anyone who had a better way to connect with people than Emily did.  She served the international students, and when she went to Pace University, she immediately made a best friend out of the front door security guard.  A few weeks later, they were such good buddies it looked like they grew up together.  She was so deeply inspiring on how to love and care for people.  I don't know how she did it; it was like a magic about her.

Please receive my deep condolences, Earl and Carolyn. May you and your family experience comfort, and the love of community as you honor and celebrate Mum's life and legacy.
@Carolyn Carr my heart goes out to you and your family at this difficult time. May your Mum legacy lives on and may you find peace and comfort in knowing that your Mom won the race

My deepest condolences to the loss of a wonderful mother and grandmother who inspired those around her to be the very best. Losing a mother is probably the hardest experience, you will be missed dearly. May you rest in peace, knowing the ones you passed the torch to will do their very best to contribute every day, just like you did by example.

1 Corinthians 15:42-45

Earl, Johanna, and family,

I cannot stop thinking about how your mother demonstrated her faithfulness to God throughout her life! I met her quite some time ago in Taipei and my impression of her was kind and gentle. Ever since then, every time I went to New York and met with her, I learned something new about her.  Your mother was very humble and did not boost any of her success. Like many respectable Christians, she was there praying for you and the next generations quietly, holding your hands to walk in His path faithfully, passing on the baton confidently. She has done amazing things that had a lasting impact on people who interacted with her.  She is FINISHING WELL in the eyes of our Mighty God! Let's follow her path and walk in the light!

Love from Joseph

Deepest condolences to Earl and Johanna and the family .
Emily gave me the best piece of advice on parenting.  She said, "No kid ever died of crying!" We were next door neighbors for 12 years.  She heard a lot of crying.

The Pan Family would like to express our condolences to our Earl and family. We are saddened by Emily’s passing. We’ve had fond memories of Emily visiting us in Taiwan and Emily hosting us when we came to visit. We found comfort in knowing that Emily is with the Lord and will continue to keep everyone in our prayers.
I was so blessed to know Emily not only as a colleague in the UN organization but as a friend  and sister in Christ.  The love, kindness and encouragement she showed me will forever be embedded in my memory.  During the pandemic she touched my life in a special way by sending me in one year, a card almost every other week. I told her I would keep these cards forever.  My heart goes out to her family at the passing of their beloved Mother and Grandmother.  Praying that God will comfort them during this difficult time.
Emily was such a caring and loving woman of God. I got to know her more when I joined the prayer team at Trinity and saw her dedication to Jesus and praying for our Trinity family, the city and the world. Sometimes it would only be a handful of us on the call on Thursday nights, but Emily and Betty Berg were the most faithful. I miss her already but am so blessed and inspired by her, a true spiritual mom and prayer warrior. She always had a beautiful warm smile that radiated Jesus. Really happy for her that she is with Him! I am sorry for your loss, Earl and family. I’m sure you will always have sweet memories of your mom until you see her again! Much love!

I came to Trinity Baptist Church (TBC) in mid 80's.  The church congregation then was about 50 plus attendees. Emily Carr was one of the attendees. Earl Carr was a young boy and came to TBC with his mom every Sunday. Emily 's friendly smile and caring heart made any visitor to the church feel welcomed. I left the church in late 90's for moving out of the state/country for job. In 2022, I moved back to NYC and resumed my attendance at TBC. On my first day coming back to the church, I was looking for old friends. I met Emily, she greeted me with warm welcome. In the conversations with her and asking some old church friends, one particular couple, that I missed.  She did not know this particular couple whereabout but she prayed for this particular couple. Her works reflect on her faith. She was one of the pillars of the church.

She is missed.

Deeply sorry to hear of Emily’s passing. She truly lived her belief in loving  thy neighbour as thyself. A warm, kind, gentle soul, she will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Rest in peace, dear lady. To her beloved children and grandchildren, may you find solace in each other and in your faith and memories.

Dearest Carr Family,

My heart goes out to you, with the hope and prayer that your grief will be supplanted sooner than later by happy memories of dear Emily.

Sending love and comfort... 🙏🏼💗
