Elly's obituary

Elly Schans went home to Jesus on March 05, 2024 at age 73.

She was born on February 24, 1951 in Haskerhorne, Netherlands. She moved to America with her family at the age of 4. Her family immigrated to Louisiana before ultimately ending up in New Jersey where Elly graduated from High School. At the age of 18 she met her future husband Roger in August of 1969 at a church conference in Florida. They were married on December 18, 1970. She was a loving spouse and mother. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Elly also loved walking in the woods to enjoy God's creation. She lived in many places over the years and always found a church to call home. After moving to Florida in 2018 she called Grace Community Baptist Church home.

Elly dedicated her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and followed Him faithfully until he called her home. She loved attending Bible studies and even started a few. Jesus Christ was a lover of her soul and she walked with him and talked with him daily. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Elly rejoiced knowing that when her time on earth came to an end it meant that her eternity in heaven would start. She lived her life to glorify God and spread his gospel message. She embodied Phil 1:21 “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Her surviving family members are numerous but mainly include:

Husband of 53 years: Roger Schans

Mother of 4 children and spouses: Jeff & Angela Schans, Jeremy & Brenda Schans, Joel & Ginger Schans, and Jessica & Frank MacAdams Jr

Immediate Family: Edith & Richard Post, Durk & Gail Oord, Wybern & Kathy Oord

Other Family Members: Unfortunately too many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews to count.
