Ellen's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ellen Cassello, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. Born on December 1, 1956, she left us too soon on August 29, 2023.
Ellen was a passionate woman who loved her family and cared deeply for others. Her kindness, love, and care extended not only to her family but also to animals, lending her support to organizations like ASPCA. Ellen will be remembered fondly for her favorite pastimes of playing Gin Rummy, enjoying the tunes of Tina Turner, and cheering for the Chicago Bears.
Ellen was a culinary connoisseur who reveled in the delicate taste of oysters and refreshing sips of iced tea. Her love for literature gravitated towards romance novels, but she also found joy in the visual and performing arts, cherishing Peter Max's artworks and Toby Keith's concerts. A keen traveler, she found reprieve in the sunny shores of Florida and enjoyed spending time at her favorite local spot, CJ's on the Bay.
Ellen served her community by volunteering at the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois. She believed in hard work and independence, values she imparted to her loved ones. Her legacy of love and kindness shines brightly in her greatest accomplishments, which centered around helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Cassello, her son, Beau Hayes, her two grandsons and brother, Guy Quenzler. Her Brother Bruce Quenzler, Sister Linda Weber, and Brother Norman Quenzler predeceased her.
A memorial service to celebrate Ellen's remarkable life will be held on September 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St Finbarr Chapel, and another on September 29, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Cjs on the bay. We invite those who were touched by Ellen's life to join us in celebrating her life.
Ellen will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her husband(Anthony Cassello), son(Beau Hayes), and grandsons(Beau & Bruce). Her enduring spirit will remain in our hearts eternally.
The family has asked that any donations be made to Avow hospice, Naples Florida.
