Send flowers

Share your sympathy. Send flowers from a local florist to Effie's family or funeral.

Dean will always remember Effie as his bright, beautiful, brown-eyed baby cousin. I will remember Effie as a beautiful and brilliant young woman capable of changing the world.  And she did.  Our hearts are filled with loving sadness for Andrew, Melina, and the Kapsalis and Curry families in this time of great sorrow and loss.  Know that you have been and will always be loved, dear Effie.

Our deepest sympathy,

Dean and Clarisse Hawley and Family

Effie was a wonderful collaborator. I’m a musician who worked with her through my band Black Prairie, leading to challenging high school students in Portland, OR to create music from the archives, leading to another project we were just cracking the code on weeks ago.

It’s funny how you can begin your life in a garage with a guitar, drop out of college , tour in a crummy van for years and end up working with one of our enduring  American institutions. I’m so incredibly thankful to have had Effie’s friendship and repeated faith in working with me and my crew on the Left Coast.

Your mother and wife should be remembered as brilliant, forward thinking, and kind who had great impact. I’m incredibly sorry for this loss.

Effie, you were such a beautiful soul and a great person to know. I remember the day you and Andrew came into Sova while you were neighborhood and house hunting. You made the right choice, and it was such a pleasure getting to know you and to share adventure stories and recipes. You will be dearly missed.
I was always amazed by Effie's insights and contributions in my work with her. Truly an amazing woman. Praying for her family in this tough time.
I will remember Effie as a warm, talented and giving colleague, a wonderful yoga teacher and brilliant master of the digital. Having seen loved ones struggling with depression and other serious mental illness, I can relate to the devastation your family must feel. My heart goes out to you, Effie’s family and friends.
Diana
