I was lucky to work with Effie on a number of projects while at the Smithsonian. She was such a pleasure to collaborate with, even keeled and pragmatic while constantly bringing vision and creativity to every task. Plus, she was a force of nature — funky and funny and curious and kind. Forever pulling up on a bicycle or motorcycle, with a stylish scarf or hat and an easy smile.  She loved talking about her daughter and husband and family, and her Greek roots. I am so sorry she is gone and send all my love to her family and friends. The world is a little dimmer without her in it.
