Effie always impressed me with her passion and dedication. She was a great listener and will be deeply missed.

Effie’s creativity and care were contagious. Her passion was palpable. I’m so thankful our lives crossed and I know her memory will remain a blessing not only to all who knew her but also all who ever experienced her projects.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. There will be many tributes to Effie - rightly so. What comes to mind for me is that I work with a lot of amazingly good-hearted and talented people who are committed, creative, smart, but I can only think of a handful who have made such profound contributions to the cultural heritage field, and to the Smithsonian in particular. Effie's impact has created shifts in how we do our work at the Smithsonian. Her legacy will live on in ways we cannot imagine - or maybe we can. I am grateful to have known and worked with her. I hold Effie's family, friends, and other colleagues who knew and loved her in the light of compassion as we grieve this great loss.
Effie was such a force for the good and the right and the just in the world. I will miss her tremendously and I’ll do my best to carry her spirit forward.

Beautiful friends together and a day I will treasure — with Andrew Curry
I worked with Effie on digital projects at the Smithsonian over a decade ago - I have never forgotten her passion and vibrance. She was an inspiring and beautiful person. Sending much love to her family and friends.
