He would want those who loved him or cared about him to celebrate his life on the day of his death. He is up in heaven smiling now knowing the grant I wrote while thinking of him when I wrote it was awarded! He would say to me fondly, ...remember, you can be anything you want to be in life! Never stop dreaming. Never give up. Never judge people for you never know if that could be you someday. Help someone if you can along the way. Most importantly be kind and empathetic. This September 13 will be 4 years since he passed. What I wouldn't give for one more "I'm proud of you kid; I love you kid". He would want people to celebrate his memories of him and laugh and cry if you need to. Not many people have an amazing parent in life. I feel blessed I did. He was an amazing person who always helped the homeless and victims of domestic violence and expected nothing in return. There was never a doubt in my mind how much he loved me and my children. He would want people to remember that about him-- that unconditional love of a parent for a child and their grandchildren is everlasting. I miss him. He taught me valuable life lessons. I'm not sure I could explain all of the kind things he really fostered in me. One thing is for certain: there isn't a single person he knew that would deny his love for his daughter and grandchildren. He literally had all of our pictures on him the day he passed away... He loved us all unconditionally.
