Gene's obituary
Dr. Eddie Eugene Roberts or simply “Gene” to his family and friends, a faithful servant of the Lord, entered into his eternal rest on November 10, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on February 5, 1949, Gene lived a life fully devoted to God, his family, and the call to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Before answering the call to full-time ministry, Gene proudly served his country in the United States Marines and Navy Reserves followed by his time as a police officer with the Beaumont and Katy Police Departments, demonstrating the heart of a true servant-leader. His time in the service shaped his character. He stood for honor, discipline, and duty—values that continued to guide him throughout his life. Gene loved his country and community deeply and carried that same spirit of service into every aspect of his life.
As a preacher and missionary, he dedicated his life to spreading the Word of God and leading souls to salvation. His sermons were filled with truth, and conviction—reminding all who listened of God’s boundless love and mercy. Through his ministry, countless lives were touched, restored, and forever changed. Whether in the pulpit, in uniform, or in the mission field, he lived as a vessel of God’s peace and protection.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife Jackie; his children Jason & Shea Roberts and Lara & Braun Wilson; grandchildren Shelby, Xavier, Baryn, Jadyn and Farryn; his mother Eunice Dugas, siblings Walter Roberts Jr. and wife Sue, sister Patricia Holland and husband David, 3 nieces and a nephew and many other family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Roberts, Sr.
A Home-going celebration of Dr. Roberts’ life and ministry will be held on Saturday November 15, 2025, at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 16928 US-59, Garrison, Texas with visitation beginning at 10:00, and service following at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glioblastoma Research Organization at: https://fundraise.gbmresearch… in his honor.
Though Gene has left this earthly home, his faith and witness remain eternal. We rejoice in knowing that he has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23)
