Dustin's obituary

Dustin Antoine, 37, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on November 03, 2024 after a battle with epilepsy since he was a child.

Dustin was born in 1986. After graduating from Moriarty High School, he went on to study and work in the Electrical field. He enjoyed school and was always a social guy, getting along with a variety of different friends. He didn't always love the class part of school but as he grew up it was evident to all around him that he was highly intelligent. He loved engineering, philosophy, the outdoors, world and religious history. He was a collector of antique momentos that showed him how life used to be for those who came before him. He was quite the jack of all trades. He could take apart and put back together any machine. He loved four wheeling and motorcycles, working on both consistently through his whole life. He always had a project going on, figuring it out all on his wits and own knowledge. He passed that passion and ability for engineering and machines onto his son. He was creative, often drawing extremely intricate designs. He passed that artistry onto his daughter, always encouraging his daughter's creativity in art and expression. Dustin was also a passionate about trail running and could often be found in the hills of the East Mountains of Albuquerque running when he wasn’t at home. He loved listening to as many podcasts and audio books and news articles possible to help further his knowledge and understanding of the world. He loved finding facts and seeing how the past influences our present and future. He liked a variety of music and enjoyed watching many live concerts. Most recently he was very into more Americana type music. Songs that made him think of things that really matter, being a good person to your friends and family and being proud of who you are.

Dustin was a force of nature, determined to provide for his children and give them the life he felt they deserved. His two children meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of them both and always tried his best to support them. His emotional connection to them both was something special to any who were blessed to witness it. Anyone who knew Dustin knew that he was the most loving father. His life was his children. He worked hard to help them feel confident within themselves always, to be happy and have friends that were kind and loving, to know they were loved for who they are and that his love for them would never end. He tried to keep them busy and having fun by going to many parks and launching rockets, bike rides, garage selling. He taught them in homeschool with the help of his mother and aunt. He was always sure to take them to annual New Mexican events like the Balloon Fiesta and State Fair, events he enjoyed when he was a kid. He took them to homeschool clubs and events, Explora, trampoline parks, played with them in the Rio Grande River, did art projects with them like tie-dying shirts they then all wore on vacation, watched many movies at the theater and snuggling at home. Most importantly Dustin always talked open and honestly with them to make them feel heard and that they could come to him about anything, always feeling safe and comforted. And lots and lots of hugs.

Dustin was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Gary and Georgetta Akin, and two maternal uncles Dallas and Rusty Akin. He is survived by his children (whose names and information have been kept private as requested by their mother), his mother Mickey Antoine, sister Vanessa Anderson, brother-in-law Brian Anderson, aunts Dede Akin, Bobbie Martin, Tana Thomas and Callie Akin, uncles Tyler Martin and Mack Thomas, cousins Satori Taylor, Aspen Hamel, Rhoan Martin, Basil Martin, Gage Akin, Reef Thomas and Cruz Thomas.

He will be extremely missed until we see him again. Until then, we will always remember all the crazy and fun times he brought to all who had the pleasure of having him in their lives. We will treasure the lesson of endurance and positivity he taught us all.

We are not requesting any donations or flowers or notes. This is just a site that will allow us all to remember and show our respects and love to Dustin. Leave a comment or memory or picture if you'd like.
