My sincerest condolences to family and friends of Doug.  We met about 37 years ago through a mutual friend in the Midwest.  Over the years we lost contact, and I just found out about his passing.  He was a creative, talented, hardworking, remarkable person.  We shared the love of music, art, writing, and photography along with memorable occasions.  While reflecting on moments spent together, I am appreciative of the short time I knew him.  He brought many special gifts to our world.

Doug left a lasting impact on those of us who had the privilege to work with him at Google. He was a kind, wonderful, and incredibly funny colleague, I'm so grateful to have gotten to know him during his time on our team. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, he left so many of us with fond memories.

I fondly recall working with Doug back in the day at Google. We worked closely on a guide together on a complex topic and Doug was so supportive and collaborative, as he was with all of our projects. He had a sense of fun in life too! I remember talking to him about the dancing lessons he took. He was actually a very good dancer! And one time, he decided to dye his hair red and relayed to me that my "red hair phase" was the inspiration! He was a sweet, kind, gentle soul. I always found a sense of calm and comfort being in the room with him and he was someone I could turn to whenever I needed to bounce ideas off of.

We took a trip to Burning Man in 1994, a bunch of us from Kaleida.  Doug shot a bunch of video.  This is the only clip where he was in front of the camera, with Dan Bornstein taking the video.  If anyone wants more of the video let me know (neumini@gmail.com)
