Doug's obituary
Doug Kramer, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 5, 2025. Born in 1950, Doug lived a life full of creativity, love, and determination that touched everyone who knew him.
Doug spent over 30 years as a dedicated tech writer, including 12 fulfilling years at Google. One of his proudest professional achievements was co-creating Javadoc during his time at Sun Microsystems, leaving a lasting mark in the tech world. But Doug’s passions extended beyond his career—he was an artist at heart. Whether capturing moments through his photography, creating music with his siblings as a member of Judy’s Brothers Band, or simply sharing his quirky sense of humor, Doug’s creativity always shone through.
In his personal life, Doug was a loving and devoted husband to Jo, a proud father to Fuller, Anne, and Brittany, and a playful, doting grandfather to Caeden, Jaylan, Alivia, Matteo, and Lucas. He had a knack for finding joy in the little things and a deep capacity for love, expressed through his music, his generosity, and his dedication to family. His meticulous nature—especially when it came to grammar—and his endearing stubbornness will always be remembered with a smile.
Doug’s strength was evident in how he faced life’s challenges, including his battle with cancer and Parkinson’s Disease, with the same tenacity and spirit that defined him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
A service to honor Doug will be held on January 17, 2025, at 12:30 PM PT at Cypress Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park. It will be a time for family and friends to come together, share stories, and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who lived fully and loved deeply.
Doug’s memory will remain in our hearts forever.
