My deepest condolences to his amazing wife. My heart goes out to you. Dougie was a kind, selfless person. That was always fun to be around. He followed his dreams and passion. And gave back along the way. He gave us year’s of get music. And was definitely a huge park of the punk scene. He was a true rockstar. That stayed true to his wife and belief’s along the way. Rest easy my old friend.  You will be missed.

See you in Heaven, Nicole🌹

Dear Dad,

I’m heartbroken that you had to physically leave this world so early. As you told me yourself - for me to see you in as much pain as you were in was reliving what I experienced with losing my Mom Pam to the side effects of cancer in 2003 all over again. You of all people knew how that shaped me, and this will have the same effect and reshape me as that loss did.

As Pam didn’t know any information about you, I couldn’t have been more ecstatic and relieved when we both finally found each other and met in 2011. We both frequented the almighty showcase theatre during the same time frame - you as a performer, and I as a music fan - to which we both agreed that we were so close, yet separated by a few mere degrees. To me, it was a satisfying sense of closure for something that I had wondered about my entire childhood and teenage years. Before that, I only had one picture of you holding me as a baby. You had a picture of me that Pam took when I was a few months old that you carried with you your entire life. All during that time, I had no name, no whereabouts and only a glimpse of the side of your face from that photo.

You & I both know it wasn’t always an easy road, which I suppose is typical in any type of relationship..but especially for us. We both have so many similarities, with differences to match. At many times I felt as if I was the “Chaos” to your Order. The “Yin” to your “Yang”. Although through the bright days, and and dark nights we both shared, I can ultimately be at peace knowing that I was able to experience some of the funnest moments I’ve ever had in my life with you, and with some of the best stories from the past to match.

You have such a large catalogue under your name,

From Schleprock, The Generators, Bedlam Knives, and the project that started it all: Doug & The Slugz..I remember you telling me back around 2011 that you had thought the demo cassette tape from the early 80’s was lost forever. I was shocked with joy to see that you were able to successfully reform the band (with the original lineup to boot), play shows, and release more music to such a positive reception. You truly came full circle.

Know that whenever I put one of those albums on, watch the music videos, live performances, or gaze at one of the flyers with one of your bands on the bill, it will forever bring a smile to my face and make me proud that you’re my Dad.

Thank you for giving me life and providing the building blocks that make me who I am.

I’m eternally grateful to be your kid.

Love,

Your Son -

Bobby

We never met, but your lyrics and music made me feel heard and validated. May You and your loved ones rest in your achievements and memories knowing you've done your part in soothing and igniting hearts around the world. Very thankful. Here's to your next adventure. Cheers brother.
Bro, you were a voice full of melancholy, emotion and 'the good attitude'. So shocked. Rock on on the other side 🖤🙌
