Doris was such a fun character! She attended almost every activity that was offered - often with her son, “Captain Bob” at her side. Every time she went to dinner she would let everyone know how cold it was in the hall and dining room (and it usually was! 😊) and when I heard her voice I knew all was well! My mother (Doris Cooper) was a table mate of hers and they enjoyed each other. Bob is an amazing son and person - always helping the residents and making everyone laugh (my mom had a crush on him I’m sure). When my Mom became bedridden he would come in and sit with her and check on her when I wasn’t there. They watched many Hallmark movies together! Thankful to have been able to know both of them ❤️

I was the Activity Director at Elmcroft for 6 years. During this time I got to know Doris very well.
My favorite memories with Doris happened when we played cards. She, Bob her son, & Bob the resident, taught me how to play bridge. It's such a complicated game. I learned something new every time we played! They were very patient while teaching me & said if you don't learn something every time then we wouldn't be good teachers.
We had soooo much fun & they were all soooo competitive! Thinking about it puts a big smile on my face!!!! She will truly be missed!!!! Love you Captain Bob & family!!!! 💜🙏💜🙏

To Doris's family: Doris truly was a very special lady and definitely the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. I met Doris while I was secretary at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour (2015-2022), and I enjoyed talking with her in person at church functions, then later on the phone after she was no longer able to drive before relocating to Knoxville. She always spoke lovingly and enthusiastically about her family and friends; she was excited about moving to Knoxville to be closer to family. I've enjoyed seeing these photos you shared; they brought many smiles to me. I know you will certainly miss her after she joined The Church Triumphant. May your treasure trove of memories bring enduring peace & comfort. My warmest Christian love & hugs to you during this journey of grief. Debbie Rheaume
